Mixed reactions to presidential debate

As Michał Owczarek reports, the presidential candidates faced each other on Sunday in a TV debate to present their opinions and plans for the office. The showdown, which was held a week before the second round of the presidential election, was televised by national TVP and private Polsat broadcasters, with the viewing audience of 10.5 million.

“If either or the contestants had counted on knocking down his opponent, they just didn’t succeed. The exchange of blows was rather balanced. Everyone who expected their candidate to come out as an unconditional winner must be disappointed,” said Jarosław Flis, a political scientist at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
