Those 20 medals, if announced before the games, would have been really deemed a huge success,” enthused Andrzej Kraśnicki, President of the Polish Olympic Committee enthused.

I wish we had won more gold but the European competition was tough,” he added.

The tournament was devised three years ago as an international multi-sport event for athletes representing the National Olympic Committees of Europe, with Baku being the first host city.

The inaugural edition of the Games featured almost 6,000 athletes from 50 countries competing in 20 sports which covered 30 disciplines.

There were 253 medal opportunities of which 20 were seized by Polish athletes, including two gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze discs, which placed Poland 19th on the medal table.
