Thirty-seven year-old lawyer and human rights activist Adam Bodnar was elected in late July by the lower house of parliament as Poland’s ombudsman.

In an exclusive interview for Radio Poland’s English Service, Bodnar told Michał Kubicki about his priorities and talks about human rights violations in Poland.
"We have a number of cases in Poland concerning police brutality. […] There’s an idea that the police should record all its actions and interventions and it should be the role of the Ombudsman to push for such changes," Bodnar said.
He also singled out homelessness as a major problem. "Having homeless people is a violation of not only their social rights but also of the basic right - to human dignity," he stressed.
Bodnar’s election will be put to a vote later this week by the Senate, the upper house of parliament.
