Emmy Award-winning American journalist and writer Rita Cosby has been in Poland to promote the Polish translation of her book "Quiet Hero: Secrets from My Father's Past."

''

Rita Cosby was interviewed by Michal Kubicki

The book tells the story of Ryszard Kossobudzki, now 85 years old and a resident of the US. A former insurgent in the Warsaw Rising of 1944 and a German POW in WWII, he changed his name to Richard Cosby in his new homeland.

Cosby found his wartime experience too painful to share with his family for many decades and it was only several years ago, after her mother's death, while sorting out her belongings, that Rita Cosby discovered a suitcase containing mementos of her father's youth, including a worn Polish resistance armband.
