The 31th edition of one of the flag film events in Poland is a giant review of the world's cinema presenting well-known directors but also focusing on upcoming names of the film industry.

In 2009 the Warsaw Film Festival became one of 14 events recognised by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations as international film festivals – next to Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Locarno, San Sebastian and Karlovy Vary.

As Agnieszka Bielawska reports, the nine-day event abounds not only in film screenings but also filmmakers, some 250 representatives of the film industry from 48 countries will be meeting with the Warsaw audience, and also workshops such as film-editing classes as well as special lectures for film critics.

“What we are serving annually is a huge dish of films and I strongly recommend a giant helping,” says Stefan Laudyn, the director of the Warsaw Film Festival.
