Wojciech Balczun has won a contest to select a CEO for Ukrainian public joint-stock railway company Ukrzaliznytsia held by the country’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

Over 30 candidates, including eight foreigners, applied for the position. Interestingly enough, Balczun is also known as the frontman and guitarist of Polish popular rock band Chemia.

“I feel so satisfied as the contest was really tough. The procedure was absolutely transparent as the Ukrainian government invited international observers from various financial institutions,” Balczun said in an interview with Michał Owczarek.
