Polish-German ‘barometer’ indicates change in atmosphere
Poland’s Institute of Public Affairs together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Warsaw and the Bertelsmann Foundation have recently published a new edition of the “Polish-German Barometer”, a perception study in both countries.

Thanks to asking the same questions each year, the survey helps track changes in Germany’s image in Poland and vice versa. This year’s publication came in the run-up to the visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to Berlin and of German President Joachim Gauck to Warsaw on Friday.
It also coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Polish-German Treaty of Good Neighbourship and Friendly Cooperation that laid down rules for many fields of cooperation and started a historical change in Polish-German relations.
On this years’ findings, Michał Owczarek talked to Agnieszka Łada of the Institute of Public Affairs and Gabriele Schӧler of the Bertelsmann Foundation.
“The Germans have got a feeling from the media, which is influenced by political statements, that Poland […] is not fulfilling its obligations within the EU,” Schӧler said.
