A Muslim's take on recent terrorist attacks in Europe

The recent attacks in France and Germany give rise to the questions whether Europe has become the target for Muslim revenge, or whether the violent acts were dictated by faith.

“We really have to consider [the attacks] in the light of what is happening in North Africa [among other factors],” says Andrzej Saramowicz, president of Rumi Foundation of Poland and School of Sufi Teaching and co-president of the Common Council of Muslims and Catholics in Poland. “First of all, Libya as a state is collapsing, Iraq does not practically exist,” he adds.

“I think the situation connected with the refugees and crimes committed by Western powers – these things altogether may have an effect on people and how they feel about civilization they live in,” Saramowicz told Radio Poland’s Michal Orzechowski.
