New book on Warsaw Uprising launched
The Warsaw Uprising anniversary saw the launch of a Polish translation of a book by George Szlachetko titled “Wira z Powstania” (Wira of Warsaw).

Over the course of three years the author interviewed his Polish mother about her extraordinary life, which evolved into a true-life story of a girl soldier who fought for her country in World War II and then developed her life in political exile in Britain.
“This is the memoir written by myself of my mother’s life, who, as a 14 year-old girl in Warsaw decided to join the conspiracy against the German occupier and at the age of 15 took part in the Warsaw Uprising,” Szlachetko told Radio Poland’s Michał Owczarek.
