Polish athletes did a great job at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, winning 11 medals, including two gold, three silver and six bronze, which is the best result in 16 years.

Expectations were slightly higher, and despite the fact that two Polish athletes being disqualified for doping, it was certainly a good tournament for Poland, especially for Anita Włodarczyk, the first woman in history to throw the hammer over 80 m. She owns the top 15 throws of all time and at the Olympic Games in Rio she added over a meter to her own world record set last year.

Rio will be remembered as a great Olympic Games for Polish cyclists. Rafał Majka won a bronze medal in road cycling, and Maja Włoszczowska won silver in mountain biking.
