Poles, like many other people looking for a holiday destination this year preferred to see what home-grown pleasures were available for the taking.

Many of the tourists hotspots by the sea in the north of the country, as well as the mountain towns in the south were booked to breaking point this year, with statistics as high as 99 percent capacity at some popular destinations.
