Government approves 2017 draft budget

Sławek Szefs reports that PM Beata Szydło described it as reflecting 'responsibility', while the opposition assessed it as 'unrealistic'.

"We are determined to reconstruct revenue flow […], tighten the tax system, spend public money in a rational manner, maintain public finances in the best possible condition and keep the deficit level low,” vowed the Law and Justice government head at a press conferenceon Thursday.

“Where is the lowered 22 percent VAT rate and the higher tax allowance?” asked Ryszard Petru, leader of Nowoczesna, an opposition party.

“There is no money left for this,” he argued.
