Poland suspends controversial tax
Poland's Finance Ministry has decided to suspend progressive retail tax following a European Commission motion which questions the freshly introduced levy in its present form.

Sławek Szefs reports the Polish side will present further arguments in favour of the tax but must presently suspend its functioning.
“This must be done to protect Polish entrepreneurs from consequences of this controversial and unwise decision,” said finance minister Paweł Szałamacha.
He added that work shall commence on a revised version of the law which would be introduced as of January. At the same time, Warsaw is considering to refer the EC decision to the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.
