Sławek Szefs examines the main points of Witold Waszczykowski’s keynote address at the Institute of International and European Affairs in Dublin, on Thursday.

Looking at what Poland stands to gain from the European integration process, Waszczykowski noted that the Union cannot provide solutions to all problems existing at a national level.

“We should be careful with illusions of federal nature because the emergence of a European nation is light years away,” observed the Polish foreign minister.

“All in all, we should start by putting back the nation states at the heart of the European Union,” Waszczykowski added.
