Can Malta – the EU’s smallest country – step up to the plate in presiding over the EU for the next six months?

On 11 January, an official ceremony saw Malta – Europe’s smallest Republic – being handed over the presidency of the EU. The challenges ahead of the country are enormous.

And variables like Brexit, the immigration crisis and a populist swing in politics could all provide further challenges to the Mediterranean country… which is better known for its sun and beaches than hardline politics.

Roberto Galea spoke to Maltese Ambassador to Poland, Natasha Meli-Daudey to discuss whether this period is an important time for Malta.
