According to recent data, 45,000 Poles die each year because of air pollution.

As Michał Owczarek reports, smog causes more and more Poles to have allergies, catch illnesses and suffer from respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. To address these issues, the Medical University of Warsaw on Tuesday held a seminar to tackle the problem.

“Mothers who breathe smoggy, polluted air give birth to children who have reduced immunity and are three times more likely to suffer from bronchitis and pneumonia,” said Prof. Andrzej Lekston from the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases.
