The report, entitled “Family Business is a Brand” was prepared by the Family Business Institute in Poznań.

The document, which emphasises a big potential of such businesses, is the first such a comprehensive survey of the share of family-owned businesses in the total number of business entities in Poland.

Among its conclusions: Polish family firms face the problem of succession as young people are tempted by careers in multinational corporations.

Also, many young people do not appreciate the prestige of working in a traditional family business because no one speaks highly of these firms.

“In western Europe the tradition of family entrepreneurship is much longer and it is normal that they have family businesses in fourth, fifth or even eighth and tenth generation while in Poland this is a new case,” Łukasz Tylczyński from the Family Business Institute in Poznań told reporter Danuta Isler
