The motto of this year's festival is "lack of investment in science is investment in ignorance."

Danuta Isler spoke to Joanna Sułkowska, a Polish researcher included on a list of women in science who have the power to change the world.

The International Rising Talents ranking has been compiled since 2014 as part of the L'Oréal-UNESCO Program for Women in Science, and Sułkowska was recognised this year for unravelling the secrets of entangled proteins.

"If you are convinced that this topic is exactly what you can do best - do your topic and try to solve all the questions and never say that there is something you cannot discover,” Sułkowska told Radio Poland. “It's better to say: there is a mountain and the question is how I would like to climb this mountain. And even though they will tell you there is no route, find your own route.”
