Poland is marking World Food Day on 16 October.

Sławek Szefs reports that Poles waste some two million tons of food annually.
"Statistical data show some 35 percent of Poles admit to wasting food,” Marek Borowski, president of the Federation of Polish Food Banks, told Polish Radio.
WorldFood Day was established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1979.
