This year's festival offered over 100 feature and documentary films from 39 countries.

On Sunday, the jury announced the winners of the festival’s 19 awards.

The Grand Prix of 2017 award went to the Chinese film To Kill a Watermelon by Zehao Gao, who was deeply moved by the honour.

"It is the first time since I started making films that I am taking part in an international festival," the Chinese filmmaker said. "It is a great honour for me to be awarded."

Among the award winners of the 33rd Warsaw Film Festival was also French filmmaker Joan Chemla as best director for If You Saw His Heart. The Best Documentary Feature award went to Wonderful Losers: A Different World by Arūnas Matelis from Lithuania, and the Ecumenical Jury Award went to Beyond Words, a Polish Dutch co-production directed by Urszula Antoniak.
