The "Street with Castle Ruins," a painting by the well-known 19th-century Polish artist Robert Śliwiński, has just returned to Poland thanks to FBI assistance.

Sławek Szefs reports this is the result of close cooperation between Polish and US authorities and law enforcement agencies.

“The United States is profoundly aware of the importance of cultural heritage to any nation and perhaps none more so than to Poland,” said Paul W. Jones, the US ambassador to Warsaw.

The painting, which went missing during World War Two, will enrich the collection of the National Museum in Wrocław, heir to its rightful pre-war owner - the Silesian Museum of Fine Arts.
