The Johannesburg event was the fourth in the 2017-2018 czcle and the second with Meronk's participation. He had competed in Australia at the end of November.
Meronk had enjoyed a dominating run on the amateur circuit when he made his professional debut on the European Tour at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2016. DI spoke to the golfer earlier to find out what drew him to the sport and what his future plans are.

“The world is losing the battle against climate change,” said French President Emmanuel Macron, hosting the Tuesday summit.

The international gathering was convened after President Donald Trump announced in June that the US would withdraw from the 2015 Paris climate agreement.

Krzysztof Jędrzejewski, expert of the Polish Climate Coalition, said in an interview with Radio Poland that "on one hand, there is Trump's administration, while on the other hand, we have enormous support fot the provisions of the [Paris ed.] agreement."

One of the key achievements of the summit, according to Jędrzejewski, was an announcement by the World Bank that it "will no longer finance upstream oil and gas."

The Polish delegation was led by deputy environment minister Paweł Sałek.
