On January 14th the Catholic Chruch celebrated the World Day of Migrants and Refugees. The theme chosen by Pope Francis for this year was 'welcoming, protecting, promoting and integrating migrants and refugees'.
Masses dedicated to the World Day of Migrants and Refugees were also held in churches across Poland. The Metropolitan of Warsaw Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz , appealed for prayers and understanding and reminded that in their history Poles were also migrants:"In the Book of Exodus we read 'you shall not opress a stranger since you yourselves know the feeling of a stranger, for you were also strangers...' and these words also apply to the situation of Poles for many times in history we were also immigrants and refugees" said Cardinal Nycz
