The Polish Royal Opera premieres its production of an opera from the 18th century, entitled “Nędza uszczęśliwiona” (Poverty ennobled), at the historic theatre in Łazienki Park in Warsaw on Friday.

The director of the production, Jarosław Kilian, is trying - as he says - to evoke the spirit of music theatre under the benefaction of King Stanislaus Augustus, the original patron of the theatre in Łazienki, and patron of the beginnings of opera in Poland.
