Poland’s President Andrzej Duda has embarked on an extended trip to Australia and New Zealand to discuss security, energy and trade.

While meeting Polish Australians near Melbourne on Sunday, Duda encouraged them to consider returning to Poland.

“I believe that when you visit Poland in the coming years to meet your family or attend family events, you will be able to look with satisfaction and think: 'Maybe it would be worth coming back,’” Duda said.

He added: “According to our estimates, around 20 million Poles live abroad…”
