Once staged by the La Scala in Milan, Don Desiderio by Józef Michał Ksawery Poniatowski was first brought back to Polish audiences in a concert version a few years ago. Elżbieta Krajewska talked to the artistic director of the Silesian Opera, Bassem Akiki, and Ewelina Pietrowiak, who staged the opera in Bytom.
