A new and fun take on the favourite classic

The Baltic Opera in Gdańsk has just premiered a new production of Rossini's Barber of Seville in which Rosina sporting cowboy boots fends off the unwelcome attentions of a chauvinistic Don Bartolo with a blond hairdo and a long red tie, the Count organises a group of Mariachi, and Figaro drives a pink Cadillac. Director of the madcap production (but not without reflection) Paweł Szostak is talking to Elżbieta Krajewska.
