Feelings running high over planned boar cull in Poland
Feelings have been running high over a planned coordinated cull of wild boar in Poland, with the protests even attracting the attention of the Polish president.
While officials argue that bringing down the population of wild boar to some 90,000 nationwide is the only way to prevent the spread of the ASF virus in Poland, environmentalists argue that there are alternative methods, and a petition against the cull has collected near on a quarter of a million signatures.
The hunting plan for April 2018 - March 2019 provides for the shooting of at least 185,000 wild boar in Poland.
