Norway has expelled Polish consul Sławomir Kowalski and Warsaw has responded by asking the Norwegian consul to leave.
In January Oslo had requested the Polish authorities in Warsaw to recall the diplomat saying that he was acting in a way that was not compatible with his status.
Warsaw responds saying that they have a high opinion of his work protecting the interests of Polish families in Norway.
In 2016, Sławomir Kowalski was named Consul of the Year by Poland’s foreign ministry for his "adequate action and skilful collaboration" with Norwegian authorities "in cases involving underage Polish nationals remaining under the custody of local welfare services.”
