Battle for Polish destination on Google Street View

A web vote is wrapping up at midnight to determine which Polish tourist destination will be the first to appear on Internet giant Google’s so-called Street View feature. 15 specific places have been selected as finalists.

Besides obvious choices such as Krakow’s impressive Main Market Square, the group includes destinations which are less known to foreigners.

Street View, which allows internet users to explore cities and famous sites via high tech 360 degree panoramas, first came to Europe in 2008.

The feature is currently available for 27 countries from around the world, including the Arctic. Work has now begun in Poland, with Google preparing the ground for next year’s Euro 2012 championships, which are being co-hosted with Ukraine.
