This week Anna Piwowarska digs poems of beloved children's author Jan Brzechwa out of the radio archive.
In this week’s From the Archives Anna is joined by the head of the English Section at Polish Radio, John Beauchamp, on a trip down memory lane, back to the weird and wonderful world of children’s stories by Jan Brzechwa.
The program features a 1965 reading from Mr Blot’s Academy read by Barry Clayton, songs from the 1983 film and other Brzechwa favourites.

W Szczebrzeszynie chrząszcz brzmi w trzcinie
I Szczebrzeszyn z tego słynie.
Wół go pyta: „Panie chrząszczu,
Po cóż pan tak brzęczy w gąszczu?"
In the town of Szczebrzeszyn a beetle buzzes in the reeds
And Szczebrzeszyn is famous for it.
An ox asks him: “Mister beetle,
What are you buzzing for in the bushes?”
