Fat Thursday marks the beginning of the last week of Carnival before Lent - and allows for unlimited doughnuts consumption.
Confectioners predict around 100 million doughnuts will be consumed throughout Poland today to celebrate Fat Thursday. In the Christian calendar this day marks the beginning of the last week of Carnival. Right before Lent, this is one of the last chances to gorge on food.
What's the doughnuts magic? John Beauchamp went to one of Warsaw’s oldest family-run confectioners and spoke to the head of the operation, Blazej Wrobel.
