The ‘Wake up Poland’ demonstration on Saturday in Warsaw was the largest political demonstration since 1989 writes Gazeta Wyborcza.

The Saturday’s gathering, writes RZECZPOSPOLITA, which as the organizers claim amounted to over 100 thousand participants, showed that the Law and Justice is a movement which has considerable social support.

However the alliance of Law and Justice, Solidarity trade union and supporters of Radio Maryja, headed by controversial priest Tadeusz Rydzyk, may repel the electorate, fearing its rigid, uncompromising opinions on certain issues.

PULS BIZNESU notes a praiseworthy initiative of three inhabitants of the western city of Wroclaw, who have launched a campaign aiming to restore the palaces and castles of the Lower Silesian region.

The facebook page of the “Polish Valley of Loire” has already over 3 thousand supporters and now the initiators are searching for investors.

The old, decaying buildings have a great potential, they argue, the picturesque sites could in the near future and with good investment, become as attractive as the French Valley of the Loire.

Puls Biznesu adds that the investment needed has to be impressive, since there are over 760 palaces and castles in Lower Silesia, the majority of them in fatal condition.

With the opening of the new academic year on October 1, GAZETA WYBORCZA writes that over 1, 5 million young people will start their high school studies.

It is not an impressive number as Poland is suffering from a demographic low, and this has resulted in many vacant places on various courses..

Schools of higher learning are not in a satisfactory position. It is no longer a fight among candidates for a place in a given college, but a fight for candidates.

The demographic low and the lack of work perspectives for the graduates, has led to a lack of interest especially in the humanities.
