The amendment to a law on the restructuring, modernization and financing of Poland's armed forces will be effective in the years 2014 to 2023.

The missile defence programme will be additional to a planned US ballistic missile system, parts of which will be stationed in Poland.

The Polish missile system “will be able to collaborate and interact with the proposed US system,” says head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) Stanisław Koziej.

“It will be a mobile system that will be able to concentrate and focus on selected targets according to risk assessment. However, this is not a stationary system that could protect the entire Polish territory,” the general added. (pg)
