“A 15-year-old girl, her mother and the woman's partner are dead,” confirmed Renata Mazur, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor's Office of Warsaw-Praga, in an interview with the Polish Press Agency (PAP).

Meanwhile, an 8-year-old boy and his 10-year-old girl were taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds. Surgery has been carried out, and their condition is understood to be stable.

Police spokesman Mariusz Mrozek told PAP that the 40-year-old man, who is believed to have committed suicide, is suspected of the attacks.

Mrozek revealed that the police had had to intervene at the home on three occasions in the past, after the woman called for help. However, she declined to press charges on those occasions.

It is understood that the the couple had been out together at a Wolomin nightclub on Saturday night.

Yesterday, neighbours told public broadcaster TVP that the man had an aggressive demeanour and drank excessively.

“The details will be clarified in the prosecutor's investigation,” Mrozek told PAP.

“The direct causes of the deaths will be revealed by the autopsies,” she added. (nh)
