Authorities are providing stand pipes in some cities across Poland with temperatures rising to 35 degrees in places as the country enters a heatwave.

Much of Poland will be hot over the coming days with warm air flowing in from north Africa.

Temperatures in the capital, Warsaw, will be around 30 degrees Celsius on Thursday, rising to 33 degrees on Friday.

The hottest area of the country will be in Wroclaw in the south west, where the mercury will climb to 35 degrees. (pg)
