The boy's body was found by divers near where his 36 year-old mother was sunbathing with a babysitter and five year-old son, when four of her children went for a swim, only to be carried away by strong currents in the river in central Poland, Captain Leszek Marszał from the local fire brigade has told Polish Radio.

The grieving mother's 15 year old son and his two sisters, aged 7 and 11, died in the tragedy with their brother.

Local prosecution services are launching an investigation into the deaths of four of the family's five children. (pg)
