Police found the severely crushed Volkswagen car on the road between Tychowo and Warnowo, after a tip-off from another motorist who had passed along the route.

A dead woman was discovered in the passenger seat of the vehicle, but there was no sign of the driver.

According to Sergeant Grzegorz Grzyb from the District Police Headquarters in Bialogard, the officers then set about searching the whereabouts.

In woodland about 15 metres from the road, a man's body was located hanging from a tree.

The man reportedly used a tow rope to carry out the apparent suicide.

“We have no witnesses of the accident,” Grzyb told the Gazeta Wyborcza daily.

It has been established that the victims were from Tychowo. The cause of the accident has yet to be clarified. (nh)
