Four killed in power plant accident

Four workmen died on Wednesday as a result of a fall at the Kozienice Power Plant in Swierze Gorne, 45 miles south east of Warsaw.

Slawomir Krenczyk, spokesman for energy firm Enea, which is the third largest in Poland, has told Polish Radio that the men fell from a height of about 200 metres.
The men had been working on a specially raised platform by one of the plant's chimneys.
At about 1 pm local time, the platform gave way.
Police officers have been joined at the site by representatives of the local prosecutor's office and the State Labour Inspectorate.
They are trying to clarify the precise causes of the accident. (nh)
