"The swastikas were probably painted there over the weekend," said Katowice police spokesman Jacek Pytel, adding that the building was not protected by security systems.
Kutz is a candidate in the May European Parliament elections and is also a deputy speaker of the Senate.
Police say the perpetrators are wanted in connection with the promotion of totalitarian symbolism, a crime which is punishable in Poland by anything up to two years in prison.
Kutz has been a senator since 2001 after directing over 20 movies including 1964's Upał (Heat) and several theatre aand TV plays. (pg)
