John Paul II Bell in place above Wawel Cathedral

The ‘John Paul II’ bell has been hung in the Silver Bells Tower of Wawel Cathedral and will be rung for the first time on the Polish Pope’s birthday on 18 May.

To hang the bell in place, 40 meters above the ground on Tuesday morning, part of the roof of the tower had to be dismantled.
The bell, which is 93 centimeters in diameter, was cast to in celebration of John Paul II being made a saint last month. (pg)
