Virtually the entire municipal fire brigade was called into action to extinguish the flames.

The arsonists' choice of vehicles appeared to be indiscriminate, with both modest and more costly cars targeted.

The crimes were committed within a radius of about 3km, taking in parts of the Suchanino, Siedlce and Wrzeszcz districts.

All of the fires had been put out by 4am.

“The police has its suspicions about who the culprits are, but for the time being these findings will not be disclosed to the public,” police spokesperson Aleksandra Siewert revealed.

Street surveillance recordings are being carefully analysed, together with footage from commercial buildings in the area.
