Radoslaw W. (full name withheld under Polish privacy laws) allegedly killed the three victims with a machete in Szczecin, northern Poland, in April 2011.

He was initially arrested on the Spanish island of Ibiza for drug trafficking, and it was only when he had served his sentence that he was extradited to Poland to hear the murder charges.

Radoslaw W. has been in custody in Szczecin since Tuesday, but to date he has refused to comment on the murder allegations.

The suspect's 64-year-old stepfather was a Danish citizen.

Besides the murder charges, Radoslaw W. has also been charged with the illegal possession of weapons, driving under the influence of alcohol and supplying narcotics. (nh)
