Main parties neck-and-neck in polls

One month ahead of local elections, the ruling Civic Platform (PO) and opposition Law and Justice (PiS) are both on 34 percent supprt, according to a new poll by the CBOS institute.

The Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) are on nine percent support and the anti-EU ‘New Right’ have moved into fourth place in seven percent.
The junior coalition partner, Polish Peasants party (PSL) are on six percent.
A survey in September by CBOS found that Civil Platform were on 38 percent – following an increase in support after Ewa Kopacz took over from Donald Tusk as prime minister – with Law and Justice on 33 percent.
Poland will be going to the polls on 16 November in the first round of local elections.
The survey was taken between 9 and 15 October from a representative sample of 919. (pg)
