The victim had left his booth and was returning home with a female companion when the attacker struck.

“Two people were taken to hospital as a result of the shooting,” commented Bochnia hospital director Jaroslaw Kycia.

“One of them was unconscious, and in spite of swift attempts to resuscitate him, it was not possible to save him.”

“The life of the second person is not threatened,” he added.

Kycia commented that “the assailant probably stole money” from the murdered man.

Police are looking for a man aged between 45 and 50 in connection with the killing. The suspect was sporting a leather jacket at the time of the attack. Sniffer dogs are being used in an attempt to find a trail. (nh)
