The woman worked at several schools and kindergartens from September 2009 to December 2014 on the basis of a fake university diploma, spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office in Lodz told daily Rzeczpospolita.

The woman pleads guilty to buying a false degree certificate at an open-air market in Lodz. She used it to obtain work at schools in the Kutno area.

She had failed to complete her degree due to financial problems. She had started her course on several occasions but failed to complete it due to inability to pay the fees.

While the Polish constitution guarantees free higher education, it is available only to around a fifth of all students, mostly graduates of the best, frequently private schools. (an)
