Artur Ł (full name withheld under Polish privacy laws), sought PLN 300,000 compensation for nine months in prison after he posted songs praising Osama bin Laden and “the blessed attack of September 11” on the internet.
He was found incompetent due to a mental disorder and released from prison.
The court found his condition made imprisonment a particularly traumatic experience for him, though declining to award the full PLN 300,000 (EUR 71,690) he was seeking. The award remains, nevertheless, higher than in most such cases, the judge said. (an)
