World computer gaming champion arrested in drug bust

A former world champion in computer gaming is among four men to have been arrested on suspicion of selling illegal drugs in Ostróda, northern Poland.

Police searched three apartments this week, leading to the seizure of drugs and illegal weaponry to the value of PLN 800,000 (EUR 193,860).

Among the narcotics confiscated were several thousand ecstacy tablets, 1.5 kg of amphetamines and 10.5 kg of marijuana.

Police also found about PLN 70,000 (EUR 288,920) in cash, as well as two revolvers and about 100 rounds of live ammunition.

The suspects, who are aged between 24 and 30, could serve 12-year prison sentences, if found guilty. (nh)
