President Bronisław Komorowski denied on Wednesday any links to SKOKs, a network of para-bank financial institutions mired in a corruption scandal.

“I never held a single złoty at any SKOK, never got a loan, I never knew anyone, so it is so absurd that there is no way to explain,” Komorowski said.

After links of the conservative opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party’s leaders with SKOKs were highlighted in the media, a picture was published, showing the president with the owners of SKOK Wołomin.

Opposition MPs wrote a letter to the president asking for clarification of his links to the individuals pictured.

Komorowski said the owner of SKOK Wołomin was pictured at the premiere of a film, when its sponsors were introduced to him. (an)
