Before the end-of-Thursday deadline, Grodzka managed to amass just over 85,000 signatures, with the presidential hopeful admitting in an interview with Polish Radio that “we might not be successful” in collecting the signatures.

Grodzka added that she may back another candidate from the Left, saying that she also intends to carry on trying to unite the social Left “around the main points of the presidential programme, with a view to the autumn parliamentary elections”.

The most recent opinion poll from CBOS had given Grodzka zero percent support, while in February she could have counted on 1 percent. (jb)
